본 연구는 어머니의 양육태도와 유아의 사회적 효능감 및 정서지능의 관계를 살펴보고, 어머니의 양육태도와 유아의 사회적 효능감과의 관계에서 유아의 정서지능의 매개효과를 검증하기 위하여 실시하였다. 이를 위해 인천지역 유아교육기관에 취원 중인 만 3~5세 유아 266명과 그들의 어머니를 대상으로 연구를 수행하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어머니의 양육태도 하위요인 중 애정적․ 자율적 양육태도는 유아 사회적 효능감 및 정서지능과 정적 상관을 보였다. 어머니 양육태도 하위요인 중 거부적․통제적 양육태도는 유아 사회적 효능감 및 정서지능과 부적 상관이 나타났다. 둘째, 어머니의 애정적․자율적 양육태도와 유아의 사회적 효능감과의 관계에서 유아의 정서지능이 완전 매개효과가 있었으며, 어머니의 거부적․통제적 양육태도와 유아의 사회적 효능감과의 관계에서도 유아의 정서지능의 완전 매개효과가 나타났다. 즉, 어머니 양육태도는 유아의 사회적 효능감에 직접적으로 영향을 미치지 않고, 유아 정서지능을 매개하여 간접적으로 영향을 미치므로 유아기 정서지능이 사회적 효능감에 강력한 영향을 미침을 시사하였다.
This study examines the relationships among maternal parenting attitudes, children s social competence as well as investigates the mediating effect of children s emotional intelligence between maternal parenting attitudes and children s social competence. Participants were composed of 266 mothers and their children attending kindergarten in I-city. The data were analyzed by means of Person s correlation coefficients and hierarchical regression. The results are as follows. First, there were positive correlations between mother s love an autonomy parenting attitudes and children s social competence as well as emotional intelligence; however, there were negative correlations between mothers hostility and control parenting attitudes between children s social competence as well as emotional intelligence. Second, children s emotional intelligence had a perfect mediating effect in between the relations of maternal parenting attitudes and children s social competence. The results indicate that the effort to increase children s emotional intelligence may increase the positive effect toward children s social competence caused by mothers love and autonomy parenting attitudes, and decrease the negative effect toward children s social competence caused by mothers hostility and control parenting attitudes.
