본 연구는 초임교사 모임을 통해 유치원 초임교사들이 이야기 하는 교직생활 내용은 무엇이며, 이러한 초임교사 모임이 그들에게 어떤 도움을 주는지 심층적으로 분석해 보기위한 것이었다. 초임교사 모임을 통해 유치원 교사들은 교수활동을 하면서 느끼는 막막함, 유치원에서 만나는 사람들과의 관계 속에서 느끼는 어려움과 불만, 교사로서 어려움을 극복할 수 있도록 힘이 되는 사람에 대한 이야기, 자신이 원하던 교육환경 및 교육방법과 이에 못 미치는 현재 유치원의 상황 등에 대해 이야기 하였다. 한편 초임교사 모임을 통해 교사들은 이야기를 통한 동료지지, 정보공유를 통한 교수전략 교환, 동기와 자극을 통한 자신감 획득 등에 대해 도움을 받고 있는 것으로 나타났지만 모임을 진행해 가면서 느끼는 모임의 한계점에 대해서도 언급하였다.
The purpose of this study was to identify what kindergarten teachers professional lives reconstructed from the stories taken at New Teacher Group were like and in what way New Teacher Group was a help to kindergarten teachers. The participants were four kindergarten teachers who were newly appointed at four endowed kindergartens in February, 2004. The researcher made a non-participant observations and recoding of what was going on and what was said at New Teacher Group meetings in which the teachers participated. Findings of this study were as follows: First, At New Teacher Group beginning teachers talked about uncertainties of teaching, difficulties in maintaining relations with people in their work places, people encouraging them to overcome professional problems, and the educational environment and teaching methods that they preferred but were not realized yet. Second, New teachers felt that they had help from New Teachers Group meetings. They had the support of the member teachers by sharing stories, exchanged teaching strategies by holding various information in common, and gained confidence in their own abilities by being motivated. Despite the advantages they pointed out the limitation of New Teacher Group meetings
