Validation of the Korean Version of the Commitment Inventory

본 연구는 연인/부부 등의 관계 내 개인의 헌신정도를 측정할 수 있는 척도를 타당화 하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 Stanley와 Markman(1992)이 개발하고 사용해 온 Commitment Inventory(CI)를 번안하고 타당화하였다. 연구를 위한 표본은 친밀한 관계(결혼, 연인 등)를 맺고 있는 성인 남녀를 대상으로 하였으며 탐색적 요인분석을 위한 1차 설문에는 328명이, 확인적 요인분석을 위한 2차 설문에는 333명이 응답하였다. 탐색적 요인분석을 통해 확정된 모형으로 확인적 요인분석을 실시한 결과 8요인 모형(자발적 헌신, 친구들의 압박, 가족의 압박, 헤어지는 과정의 어려움, 이혼에 대한 도덕적 입장, 자녀에 대한 걱정, 상대방에 대한 걱정, 대안적 관계의 여부)이 최종 확인되었다. 다른 척도들과의 상관분석을 통해 준거 타당도를 검증하였고 하위 요인들 간 유의미한 상관관계도 확인하였다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 결과에 대한 논의 및 추후 연구와 관련된 제언들이 제시되었다.

Objectives: The purpose of this paper was to validate the Korean version of the Commitment Inventory (CI), originally constructed and validated by Stanley and Markman (1992). Method: The data for analysis were collected from adults who were in romantic relationships such as dating, cohabiting, or married. There were 328 adults included in the exploratory factor analysis and 336 in the confirmatory factor analysis. Results: The result from the exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses produced an 8-factor model, which included the following factors: “personal dedication,” “social pressure,” “divorce morality,” “child welfare concern,” “procedure difficulty,” “guilt for leaving,” and “alternative availability.” Criterion validity was confirmed with the significant correlations and with the measures included in the study, including the “Investment Model Scale,” the “Marital Satisfaction Inventory,” and the “Relationship Assessment Scale.” Conclusion: Implications and suggestions for future studies were discussed.
