In the late Ming Dynasty, female entertainers were one of the driving forces in flourishing the folk songs. Among the jilou[妓樓], the activities of female entertainers had huge influence on creation, enjoyment, and distribution of folk songs. As the folk songs were praised for singing the ‘true feelings’ of the people at that time, the songs also well-reflected the actual lifestyle and feelings of ordinary female entertainers. touting , hospitality are the main business of female entertainers, the folk song books compiled by Feng Mengrong are meaningful in that these contain works that express the business cases of ordinary female entertainers in a very specific way. But female entertainers tragic situations and misery are reflected passively in 《Guazhi-er》and 《Shange》. Such limitation is assumed to be closely related with the entertaining purpose of song books and female entertainers characteristics of social level.
