물리적 환경과 서비스제공자의 인식이 도전적 행동을 보이는 발달장애인과의 의사소통에 미치는 영향

Communication between Service Providers and People with Developmental Disabilities and Challenging Behavior : Focused on the effects of physical environment, service providers’ perception and relationship

이 연구는 도전적 행동을 보이는 발달장애인과 서비스제공자의 의사소통과 이에 영향을 미치는 시설의 물리적 환경, 도전적 행동에 대한 서비스제공자 인식의 사이에서 이용자-서비스제공자 관계의 매개효과를 확인하고자 한 것이다. 연구결과 좋은 물리적 환경일수록 의사소통의 질이 높아지는 것으로 나타났으나, 서비스제공자의 도전적 행동에 대한 인식은 의사소통에 직접적인 영향을 미치지는 않는 것으로 분석되었다. 그러나 이용자-서비스제공자 관계가 긴밀할수록 의사소통의 질이 향상되는 것으로 나타났으며, 이들 관계는 시설의 물리적 환경, 도전적 행동에 대한 서비스제공자 인식과 의사소통 사이를 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구는 서비스제공자와 도전적 행동을 보이는 발달장애인의 의사소통에 대한 관련 변인의 영향력과 변인들의 구조적 관계를 밝히고자 한 것으로서, 관련 연구에 대한 기초자료로서 그 의미를 갖는다.

The purpose of this research was to analyze the mediating effects of the user-provider relationship in light of the effects of physical environment of facilities and service providers’ perception of challenging behavior on the communication between service providers and people with developmental disabilities and challenging behavior. The results indicated the quality of communication increased as the physical environment improved, whereas service providers’ perception of challenging behavior did not directly affect the communication. Meanwhile, the quality of communication increased with the affinity between service providers and users. Also, the relationship between service providers and users mediated between the physical environment, service providers’ perception of challenging behavior and communication. In that this study attempted to establish the effects of the relevant variables on the communication between service providers and people with developmental disabilities and challenging behavior, and the structural relationship among the variables, the findings should be noted as the reference data for further studies.
