외국인유학생을 위한 교양 글쓰기수업의 현황과 과제

Current Status and Tasks of Liberal Writing Class for Foreign Students ―Focusing on Four-Year Universities in Busan―

본 연구는 한국의 대학에서 유학하고 있는 외국인유학생이 교양 글쓰기수업을 통해 사회가 요구하는 인문학적 소양을 함양할 수 있다는 전제 하에, 현재 부산지역 대학에서 진행 중인 외국인유학생 대상의 교양 글쓰기수업 현황을 살펴보고 효과적인 글쓰기수업을 위한 과제를 모색하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 연구 결과, 부산지역의 4년제 대학 중 외국인유학생을 위한 글쓰기수업을 별도로 개설하고 있는 곳은 4곳에 불과하였으며, 대부분 대학에서 외국인 대상의 글쓰기강좌에 대한 정책이 분명하지 않았다. 그리고 시중에 나와 있는 글쓰기교재의 구성은 주로 글의 유형과 형식에 치중해 있었다. 따라서 본 연구는 지금까지 한국학생에 비해 상대적으로 소홀히 여겨졌던 외국인유학생을 위한 교양 글쓰기수업을 강화할 필요가 있다고 보며, 외국인유학생의 인문학적 소양과 글쓰기능력 함양을 위한 과제를 다음과 같이 제시하였다. 첫째, 한국학생들과 분리하여 외국인유학생을 위한 교양 글쓰기수업을 개설하여야 한다. 둘째, 외국인 유학생의 글쓰기수업에는 다양한 인문학적 주제가 포함되어야 한다. 셋째, 방법적인 면에서 외국인유학생의 인문학적 사고를 촉진하는 글쓰기교재가 개발되어야 한다.

The purpose of this study is to emphasize the necessity of writing lesson for foreign students and to investigate the present situation of the liberal writing class for foreign students who are currently studying at universities in Busan and to find out the tasks for effective writing class under the premise of cultivating humanistic literacy required by society through liberal writing classes. As a result, it was found that the liberal education and writing education among the fourteen four-year universities, there are only four places where arrange the writing classes for foreign students, the policy on writing classes for foreigners was not clear, the writing textbooks chosen by the instructor are mainly focused on the type and form than subjects. This study proposes the future tasks of the universities in order to cultivate the humanities of foreign students. First, it is necessary to establish liberal writing for foreign students separated from Korean students. Second, writing for foreign students should include the cultivation of humanities knowledge. Third, the writing materials should be developed to promote the humanistic thinking.
