Purpose: This study was done th identify the experiences of current status and needs of simulation-based education in nursing students and instructors. Methods: A descriptive research was used and data were collected in 2018. Participants were 106 nursing students and 14 instructors at a university located in B Metropolitan City. Data analysis was performed using SPSS/WIN 18.0. Results: In the satisfaction of the simulation-based education in nursing students, 76% answered ‘satisfaction’, in the satisfaction with clinical practice after the simulation-based education, 80% answered ‘satisfaction.’ There were simulation-based educational needs for various subjects in the order of Adult nursing 35.2%, maternal nursing 20.4%, child nursing 14.1%, psychiatric mental nursing 13.4%, nursing management 7.0%, fundamentals of nursing 6.4% and community health nursing 3.5%. The instructor’s hope degree for simulation education, 66.7% of the instructors wanted simulation training, the desired area of simulation training is simulation design courses 46.6%, debriefing 26.7%, and standardized patient training programs 13.3%. Conclusion: This study has significant implications for understanding the current status and needs for simulation-based education in nursing students and instructors. Its results can be used as the foundation and basis for the improving of ability in practical nursing.
