VFAE (Visual Form Aesthetic Education) Pedagogy Project is based on visual form scanning skills to develop curriculum model. 6 visual formal elements act as core lesson themes; they are proportion, color, texture, composition, structure, and construction. They also play as scanning tools for students to explore art world and daily life. From October of 2013 to June of 2015, 148 high school art teachers from nationwide school districts participated in this18 weeks, 36 teaching hours pilot study. After teaching, they self-assessed their experiences by reflecting on their lesson plans, collected students’ works and thoughts. A group teaching portfolios exhibition was organized in Taipei for public to review this pilot study. As a result, we found that VFAE Pedagogy empowers both students and teachers in aesthetic discerning which is not focused on in traditional art education of Taiwan.
