Tar is an unwanted by-product from pyrolysis and gasification process. It can cause the cold gas efficiency loss of the process and the severe fouling problem. The application of the catalysts for the gasification of plastic wastes is very challenging because of S or Cl compounds which easily deactivate the catalysts. Therefore, we used high temperature (>900℃ thermal treatment which converts tar into soot particles or low molecule gas phase products. We designed continuous tar generator with electric heating system and used RPF (Refused Plastic Fuel) as a fuel. For thermal treatment, we employed a high temperature tube-reactor which is able to heat fuel up to 1000℃. Tar conversion and changes of product gas composition was investigated before and after the thermal treatment
