자기표현활동이 유아의 자아존중감과 조망수용능력에 미치는 영향

The Effects of Self-expression Activities on Children s Self-esteem and Perspective-Taking Ability

본 연구의 목적은 자기표현활동이 유아의 자아존중감과 조망수용능력에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 것이다. 본 연구를 위해 실험집단 유아 23명에게 언어적, 미술적, 신체적 표현이 가능한 놀이 중심의 자기표현활동을 실시하였으며, 통제집단 유아 23명에게는 생활주제에 따른 일상적인 내용 중심의 이야기나누기 활동을 실시하였다. 본 연구에서 밝혀진 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자기표현활동을 실시한 실험집단이 통제집단보다 더 인지적 자아, 사회적 자아, 신체적 자아, 가족적 자아, 정서적 자아등 자아존중감의 증진에 긍정적인 효과가 있었다. 둘째, 자기표현활동을 실시한 실험집단이 통제집단보다 더 타인의도 조망용능력, 타인사고 조망수용능력, 감정 조망수용능력 등 조망수용능력 증진에 긍정적인 효과가 있었다. 이러한 연구결과는 자기표현 활동이 유아의 자아존중감과 조망수용능력에 효과를 줄 수 있는 교육활동으로 긍정적인 기여를 할 수 임을 시사한다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of self-expression activities on young children s self-esteem and perspective-taking ability. The subjects in this study were 46 five-year-old children in two kindergartens located in Kyeonggi Province. Among them, 23 children were assigned in an experimental group, and the rest 23 children were assigned in a control group. The experiment was implemented 16 times during 8 weeks. The experimental group engaged in play-based self-expression activities that young children can represent themselves by using verbal, artistic, and physical expression. The control group engaged in story telling activities based on the daily life. The collected data was statistically analyzed by t-test using SPSS 12.0 program. The major findings of this study were as follows: First, there was a significant difference in the self-esteem between the experimental and the control group. Second, there was a significant difference in the perspective-taking ability between the experimental group and the control group. The results show that self-expression activities had positive effects on the improvement of young children s self-esteem and perspective-taking ability.
