A Transformative Learning of Newly-appointed Elementary School Teacher Majoring in the Advanced-Level Course of Social Studies Education

The purpose of this study is to examine how newly-appointed elementary school teacher majoring in the advanced-level course of social studies education can understand their own studying experiences and organize the meaning as the dynamic and subjective individual learners, at the standpoint of transformative learning theory. Through it, this study intends to show reference frame`s contents and changing aspect in teachers` experiences, to interpretate the characteristics of studying experience in relation with the growth of teachers` professionalism and examine what the factors related with teachers` studying are. For the studying process of newly-appointed elementary school teacher, firstly, it was interpreted by additional study and transformative learning but transformative learning showed what things achieved at the standard reexamining basically premise and purpose in teachers` class practical behavior, different from the knowledge which can be known more, and transformative aspect of standpoint through the rational discourse with colleague teachers. Secondly, in the process of transformative learning, there were critical reflection, rational discourse and practical behavior dynamically. Thirdly, the content of reference frame for teachers` instrumental studying area was mainly related with contents which have appropriateness of teaching society for newly-appointed teachers` adaption, and teaching/studying. So establishment and practice of systematic educational plan were the method for student guidance by main contents and teacher`s belief. On the contrary, the content of reference frame for communication area and emancipatory area has mostly the content including teacher`s self-critical reflection for the content of reference frame, for the previous instrumental studying area.
