The Effect of STEAM Education using Rude Goldberg Machine on the Primary Learner`s Scientific Inquiry Ability and Science-Related Affective Characteristics

The purpose of this study is to assess the effects of STEAM education using Goldberg Machine device on the Primary Learner’s Scientific Inquiry Ability and Science-Related Affective Characteristics. The result of the study is as follows. First, the results showed that the Primary Learner’s Scientific Inquiry ability was meaningfully affected by using Goldberg Machine device in context to STEAM education. The results showed overall improvement in regard to the change of scientific inquiry. More specifically there was the evidence of meaningful effects in observing, inferring, establishing hypothesis, and controlling variables. Second, there was no statistical significance between pre and post tests in regards to the overall Science-Related Affective Characteristics found in the STEAM education using Goldberg Machine device. However, there was meaningful differences appeared in understanding of science education, interest in science-related jobs and critical ability. In conclusion, by giving differentiated leveled homework based on students’ interest, it is expected that there will be positive effects regarding the Primary Learner’s Scientific Inquiry Ability while using Goldberg Machine device for STEAM education.
