미래교육기법을 적용한 초등 사회과 인구교육 프로그램 구안과 적용

The Design of a Population Education Program in Elementary Social Studies Applying a Future Education Technique

현재 우리나라뿐 아니라 세계적으로 급속한 인구의 고령화가 진행되고 있다. 이에 고령화에 대한 지식의 이해, 고령화를 스스로 예측하고 준비할 수 있는 능력의 신장, 그리고 고령화와 고령자에 대한 올바른 가치관·태도의 정립을 목표로 하는 인구교육 프로그램을 구안하여 학생들에게 적용해 보고 그 효과성을 검증하였다. 본 연구에서는 학생들이 살고 있는 생활과 밀접한 경험에 근거하여, 경기도 수원시를 대상으로 인구교육 프로그램을 구안하였다. 또한 고령화에 대한 교육의 목적은 현재보다 미래의 삶에 초점을 맞추고 그에 대처하는 능력 함양에 있으므로 이를 위한 방법으로 미래교육기법을 적용하였다. 미래교육기법을 적용한 초등 사회과 인구교육 프로그램을 구안하고 적용한 결과 첫째, 고령화에 대한 지식의 이해가 신장되었고 둘째, 고령화에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 미래의 고령화 된 모습을 예측할 수 있게 되었다. 셋째, 고령화에 대하여 준비할 수 있는 능력이 신장되었고 넷째, 고령자 및 고령화에 대한 가치관·태도의 변화를 일으켰다. 마지막으로 학교 인구교육과 사회 인구교육의 연계·통합을 통해 교육 효과성을 신장시켰다.

Many countries in the world as well as Korea are experiencing rapid population aging. Thus, in this study, I designed a population education program aimed at offering an understanding of the knowledge about population aging, improving students` ability to predict the relevant future and be prepared for it, and helping them to establish proper perceptions and attitudes toward population aging and senior citizens. Then I applied it to students and verified its effectiveness. In this study, I designed a population education program aimed at students living in my place of residence, Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, based on my close experience of students` lives. Moreover, I applied a future education technique because the purpose of education about population aging is to pay attention to the future rather than the present and foster students` ability to cope with it. The results of the design and application of the population education program applying a future education technique in elementary social studies are as follows. First, the students` understanding of population aging improved. Second, the students became able to predict the results of population aging in the future based on the understanding of the subject. Third, the students enhanced their ability to prepare themselves for an aged society. Fourth, the program caused changes in the students` perceptions and attitudes toward senior citizens and population aging. Fifth, the population aging education program improved the educational effectiveness by connecting and integrating population education at the school level and that at the societal level.
