The purpose of this study is to analyze the cultural parts of the fourth grader`s English authorized textbooks in the elementary school, which are used from 2011 and that is on the basis of the revised national curriculum. This research will suggest several improvements which are needed to reflect to develop newly authorized textbook. The research results shows that there are some improvements of learners` reading abilities and the materials which are used in the textbook dialogues and culture corners are distributed diversely. Besides, the cultural backgrounds found in the textbook dialogues and culture corners seem to be supplementary as welll as unfamiliar. It is necessary to improve the ratio of Korean culture in the English textbooks and also to reduce the ratio of supplementary cultures. The types of cultures, the norms, and ideas in the textbooks are used in order. Considering all the results for the study, cultural contents are still insufficient. Some specific activities available for Culture Corner will be suggested to help promote culture education. In conclusion, to vitalize culture education in accordance with the focus on culture in the revised national curriculum for English education, the Ministry of Education must make criterion of grade content.
