The Effect of Using Science Song on Academic Achievement and Scientific Attitude in Elementary Science Class

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of using science song on academic achievement and scientific attitude in elementary science class. By extracting main science concepts and learning objectives at 2nd semester of 6th grade, science songs are chosen and performed in ‘A’ elementary school of Yongin. In order to compare the effects ‘B’ elementary school of Yongin is chosen. In this study, science song is an educational tool for teaching science and composed including contents of science lessons sturdied. Science academic achievement test for elementary students developed by extracting main science concepts and learning objectives. Scientific attitude test used developed by Kim et al.(1998). Then, the test results were analyzed. The results of the analysis are as follows: First, the lessons utilizing the science songs did not impact student`s academic achievement. Second, the lessons utilizing the science songs positively influenced the student`s scientific attitude, in particularly, curiosity, voluntariness, and cooperation.
