Development and Application of Evaluation Criteria for Map Learning Websites

초등학교에서 본격적인 지도학습은 내가 살고 있는 고장의 모습을 4방위를 표시한 그림지도로 그리는 것에서 시작한다. 이를 위해 멀티미디어 기술을 활용한 웹사이트의 지도학습이 활용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 지도학습 웹 사이트를 평가할 수 있는 평가준거를 개발하여 지도학습의 보조 자료로서 지도학습 웹 사이트를 활용하고자 할 때의 선택기준을 제공하고 이를 바탕으로 국내.외의 대표적인 지도학습 웹사이트를 분석함으로써 그 활용방안을 제시하였다. 이를 위하여 먼저, 사회과 교육과정과 교과서를 분석하여 지도학습의 목적과 내용이반영된 지도학습 웹 사이트 평가준거를 개발하였다. 다음으로 웹 사이트 분석대상으로 ‘gis 서울지도’, 국립지리정보원의 ‘어린이 지도여행’, ‘국토포털’, ‘구글 어스’, ‘Owl and Mouse’를 중점분석 사이트로 정하여 집중적으로 분석하였다. 그리고 지도학습 웹사이트를 평가준거에 따라 평가하면서 얻은 결과를 종합적으로 정리하여 지도학습과 관련하여 교사가 수업을 진행할 때나 보충.심화학습을 하고자 할 때 웹사이트의 교육적 효과를 탐색해보았다.

In an elementary school, learning about maps in earnest usually begins by drawing a picture map of one``s hometown where four bearings are marked. For map leanrning, map learning through websites using the multimedia technology available on the Internet is being used. This study has developed evaluation criteria, which assess websites for map learning, thereby providing a selection standard when considering the use ofwebsites as auxiliary teaching tools. It presents measures for employing domestic and overseas representative websites for map learning by analyzing them. To this end, the study’s first stage involved the analysis of the curricula and textbooks used for social studies, which enabled the evaluation criteria to be developed to assess websites in terms of their suitability for map learning. Next, the Seoul Geographical Information System(GIS) Portal, the Travel Map for Children provided by the National Geographic Information Institute, the National Land Portal, Google Earth, and Owl & Mouse were selected as the major sites for analysis. And, the results are summarized by evaluating the websites according to the specified criteria and there is an exploration of their educational effects when teachers proceeded with their class or provided complementary and advanced learning.
