사이버대학의 스마트러닝 실태 조사 및 활성화 전략 연구

A Study on the Current States and Activation Strategies of Smart Learning in a Cyber University

본 논문에서는 스마트 기기의 확산에 따른 교육 패러다임의 전환에 대응하기 위해 사이버대학의 스마트러닝 실태와 활성화 전략을 연구하였다. 이를 위해 K사이버대학 학습자 815명에게 설문을 실시하고, 교수자 및 콘텐츠 개발자를 대상으로 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 시행하였다. 설문조사에서는 학습자들의 스마트러닝 준비도, 인지도 및 태도를 알아보고, 스마트러닝 이용 실태 및 만족도를 분석하며, 스마트러닝 활성화를 위한 학습자 요구사항에 대해 알아보았다. 설문조사 자료는 빈도분석, 기술통계, 교차분석, 독립표본 t-test, 일원분산분석 방법을 통해 분석되었다. 인터뷰조사에서는 스마트러닝 활성화를 위한 교수자와 콘텐츠 개발자의 요구사항을 분석하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 학습자들의 스마트 기기에 대한 친숙도가 높고 스마트러닝에 대한 필요도와 관심도도 높게 나타났다. 그러나 높은 연령대의 학생들과 인문사회계열 학생들의 친숙도, 관심도, 필요도는 유의하게 낮았으며, 어학계열 학생들의 인지도와 필요도는 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 아직 스마트러닝에 참여하는 학습자가 절반을 넘지는 못하였으나, 만족도는 다소 높은 것으로 나타났다. 특히 편입생은 신입생보다 스마트러닝 수업의 향후 수강의사나 타인에게 권유하려는 의향이 높았다. 셋째, 교수자와 개발자들은 스마트러닝 콘텐츠 개발방식이 동영상 중심으로 획일화되지 않도록 노력해야 한다고 주장하였다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 기반으로 하여, 콘텐츠, 솔루션, 운영 측면에서 구체적인 활성화 전략을 제안하였다

As recent trends show that universities are eager to integrate Smart Learning into their courses, this paper explores the current states and activation strategies of Smart Learning in a cyber university. An online questionnaire was conducted with 815 cyber university students and focus group interviews were conducted with their instructors and learning content developers. The first results showed that the learners reported high levels of familiarity with smart devices, and their Smart Learning needs and interests were strong. The levels of familiarity, needs, and interests of older students and humanities/social science majors were significantly low, and language majors showed higher levels of recognition for Smart Learning. Second, the results indicated that only 42% of the participants took Smart Learning courses, which suggests that Smart Learning has not become public even at a cyber university. However, their satisfaction levels were higher than the average, and specially transfer students, compared to the freshmen, wanted to take more Smart Learning courses later and actively recommend them to the other students. The respondents suggested that video lectures be combined with collaborative learning, using text messages or SNS (Social Network Service). They also proposed that the length of Smart Learning lectures be adjusted and modified so that search and speed control functions are available. The study also found that younger learners want to improve the internet access for Smart Learning, but older students required additional hands-on training on smart devices and Smart Learning methods. Third, the instructors and content developers suggested that the development method of Smart Learning contents should be diversified. On the basis of the survey and interview results, practical strategies for the further development of Smart Learning were proposed at the end.
