대학생의 사회적 문제해결력에 미치는 지각된 부모의 심리적 통제의 영향

The Mediating Effects of Self-Esteem on the Relationship Between Parental Psychological Control and Social Problem Solving in College Students

본 연구에서는 대학생들을 대상으로 부모의 심리적 통제와 사회적 문제해결 간의 관계에서 자아존중감이 매개역할을 하는지 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 수도권 4년제 대학에 재학중인 대학생 356명으로부터 자료를 수집하였다. 남녀 집단별 중다회귀분석을 실시한 결과, 남자 대학생의 경우 자아존중감이 부분 매개 역할을, 여자 대학생의 경우 완전 매개 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 부모의 심리적 통제와 관련해서 아동ㆍ청소년을 대상으로 한 연구가 대부분인데 반해 본 연구에서는 대학생을 대상으로 연구하여, 부모의 심리적 통제의 영향력이 대학생 시기에도 유효함을 밝혔다. 대학생이 지각한 부모의 심리적 통제와 사회적 문제해결 관계에서 자아존중감이 매개 변인이라는 결과는 대학생 상담 장면에서 자아존중감에 초점을 두는 상담개입이 효과적일 수 있음을 시사한다.

This study aimed to investigate whether self-esteem would mediate the relation between parental psychological control and social problem solving of college students in emerging adulthood. The subjects included 356 college students registered in a four-year college or university in Seoul Metropolitan area. The results of multiple regression analysis showed that self-esteem functioned partially as a mediator in the relation between parental psychological control and social problem solving. The present study was found that parental psychological control continued to have valid effects in college students. The finding that the self-esteem mediated the relation between parental psychological control and social problem solving suggests that counseling interventions focusing on self-esteem can be effective in counseling practice with college students.
