영아 초기 적응과정에서 시간제 보육교사가 경험한 어려움과 보람

The difficulties and rewards experienced by the part-time child care teachers in an early infant adaptation process

본 연구는 시간제 보육기관을 이용하는 영아의 초기 적응과정에서 시간제 보육교사가 겪는 어려움과 보람의 의미가 무엇인지 알아보고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 서울시 M구의 S지점과 D지점 시간제 보육기관 시간제 보육교사 4명과 시간제 보육 관리자 1명을 대상으로 개인면담을 하였다. 연구에 의하면 첫째, 시간제 보육교사는 일회적 관계로 인한 적응 지도, 신입 영아의 다양한 배경 파악, 즉흥적인 순간에 임기응변, 빠른 적응을 기대하는 부모의 요구부응, 적응에 대한 부모와의 인식 차이로 인하여 어려움을 느끼고 있었다. 둘째, 시간제 보육교사는 비정기적 이용에도 적응하며 즐겁게 놀이하는 영아, 안정된 적응경험을 통한 어린이집 이용 준비 단계로서의 기여, 초기 적응과정 시부모와 형성된 긍정적 관계에서 오는 교사로서의 긍지, 영아 보육전문가로서 성장해 나가는 자부심으로 인하여 보람을 느끼고 있었다. 연구 결과는 영아 초기 적응과정에서 느끼는 시간제 보육교사의 어려움과 보람을 이해하는데 실질적인 도움을 줄 것이며, 향후 시간제 보육교사를 지원하는 구체적인 실천 방향을 모색하기 위한 기초자료로 활용될 것으로 기대한다.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the meaning of the difficulties and rewards experienced by the part-time childcare teacher in early infant adaptation process. For this purpose, we interviewed four part-time childcare teachers and one part-time childcare manager in part-time childcare centers in S and D branches of M District in Seoul. According to the research, first, the part-time childcare teacher has felt difficulties by leading to adaptation due to one-off relationships, grasping various backgrounds of new infants, responding immediately and effectively according to circumstances, parents demanding fast adaptation, and conceptual difference between teachers and parents about adaptation degree. And the part-time childcare teacher has also felt rewarding due to infants who play happily in spite of irregular use, contribution as a preparation stage for nursery school through stable adaptation experience, pride as a teacher from the positive relationship formed with parents in the initial adaptation process and the self-esteem to grow as an childcare specialist. The result of this study are expected to provide practical help to understand the difficulties and rewards of part-time childcare teachers in the early childhood adaptation process, and will be used as basic data to seek concrete directions for supporting part-time childcare teachers.
