과업을 통한 토의·토론 중심의 초등영어 수업 방법

A Study on the Elementary English Teaching and Learning Focused on Debate and Discussion through TBL

본 논문에서는 초등학교 교실에 적용할 수 있는 과업을 통한 토의ㆍ토론 중심 초등영어 수업방법을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 이론적으로 토의ㆍ토론 중심 수업의 개념과 방법 및 원리, 그리고 장점들을 살펴보았다. 이를 토대로 초등학교 교실에 적용할 수 있는 구체적인 수업 방법을 제시하였다. 이 연구에 의하면 초등학교 교실에 적용할 수 있는 구체적인 토의ㆍ토론 중심 수업 방법은 과업 중심 수업 방법을 들 수가 있다. 초등학교 교실에 적용할 수 있는 과업 중심 수업 절차를 통하여 학습자들이 스스로 토의ㆍ토론에 적극적으로 참여하고 서로 협동하면서 협동학습을 통하여 과업을 완수하는 것이다. 초등학교 교실영어에서는 교육과정에 명시된 대로 학습자들의 수준 차이를 고려해야만 한다. 이를 위하여 심화 활동을 위한 토의ㆍ토론 중심 수업도 있지만 기본 활동을 위한 토의ㆍ토론 중심 수업을 먼저 고려해야 한다. 이 연구에서는 기본 활동을 위한 토의ㆍ토론 중심 수업 방법을 제시하였다. 앞으로 초등학교 교실에서 모든 학습자들이 참여할 수 있는 과업 중심 토의ㆍ토론 중심 수업이 진행된다면 학습자들이 좀 더 영어교육에 흥미를 느끼고 적극적으로 참여하게 될 것으로 여겨진다.

The purpose of this study was to come up with elementary English teaching and learning method using debateㆍdiscussion by means of task-based learning. In order to achieve this purpose, I looked into the concepts, methods, principles, and merits of this kind of class. Based on this theory, I described the real teaching and learning methods related to this sort of class. The best way of this kind of teaching and learning is to utilize the task in the elementary English classroom. Elementary school students are able to learn English more effectively through task activities, pre-task activity, task activity, post-task activity, using debateㆍdiscussion. Furthermore, In the elementary classroom, all the teachers need to teach their students based on the levels. In particular, they need to teach their students mainly focusing on the intermediate level. In this sort of class, the advanced and novice students should collaborate with the intermediate students. It can be concluded that all the teachers need to teach their students using collaborative learning through task-based learning. It is also recommended that a lot of these kinds of teaching and learning methods should be devised and developed in the elementary English classroom. As a result of these efforts, the elementary students will be able to be interested in and participate in this kind of class actively.
