Youth Work와 Youth Worker에 관한 개념적 고찰

A Definitional Review of Youth Work and Youth Workers

본 연구는 Youth work의 개념과 더불어 Youth work의 역사, Youth worker의 개념과 역할, 전문성 등을 살펴보고 청소년학의 학문적 체계로서의 발전방향을 알아보기 위해 실시된 연구이다. Youth work의 역사적 변천과정과 그 속성 등을 고려해보았을 때, Youth work은 공공성을 담보한 청소년사업이 되어야 하며 보편적 복지의 개념하에서 모든 청소년들의 행복과 웰빙을 추구하는 복지적 관점이 정책적 측면에서 향후 보다 강조되어야 할 것이다. 또한 지금까지 청소년활동, 지도, 실천에 있어 non formal 교육방법만 강조되어 왔으나 앞으로 가치중심적인 측면이 더 강조되어 Youth worker가 전문직으로서 인정받을 수 있도록 이론적, 실천적, 정책적 대안이 모색되어져야 할 것이다.

This study aims to examine the definions of youth work with the history of youth work, the definitions of youth worker, the role and professionalism of youth workers and to review the developmental direction of youth studies as an academic discipline. Based on the speculation of the transitional process and attributes of youth work in history, youth work needs to be works for youth to secure the publicity and also needs to be emphasized the perspective of welfare as policy aspect in the future for the pursuit of happiness and wellbeing of young people under the definition of universal welfare. Also search for alternatives of theory, practice and policy are necessary to affirm youth worker as a professional job by highlighting the value-centered aspect of youth activity, youth guidance, and youth practice unlike focusing on non-formal education to this day.
