시각장애인 경력 특수교사의 교육 경험과 인식: 교육 현황과 개선 요구를 중심으로

The Educational Experience and Perception of Special Educational Teacher with Visual Impairments : A Study on the Educational Current Status and Improvement Demand

본 연구는 맹학교에 근무하는 시각장애인 경력 특수교사들의 교육 경험과 인식을 토대로 시각장애인 경력 특수교사가 당면하고 있는 교육현황을 파악하고 시각장애교육의 발전을 위해 어떤 노력이 이루어져야하는지를 알아보기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위해 전국 맹학교에 근무하는 시각장애인 경력 특수교사 11명을 대상으로 집단 면담과 개별 심층 면담을 진행하여 수집된 자료를 전사하고 질적 내용 분석 방법을 통해 자료를 분석하였다. 연구의 타당성과 신뢰성을 확보하기 위해서 연구 참여자의 확인과 외부 감사를 진행하였다. 자료 분석을 통해서 5개의 대주제와 16개의 하위주제로 정리되었다. 5개의 대주제는 ‘무엇이 경력인가’, ‘적절치 않은 교육과정’, ‘맹학교는 이대로 좋은가’, ‘그래도 나는 교사이다’, ‘우리 나아갈 길’로 도출되었다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 시각장애인 경력 특수교사의 교육경험이 학교 안을 넘어서서 학교 밖의 다양한 분야로 확장되어 보다 풍성하게 활용되어야할 것과 교육과정과 학교 체제 및 학교 역할 등이 시각장애인의 요구에 맞게 재구성되어 실효적인 교육 성과로 연결될 수 있어야 한다는 것을 논의하였다. 본 연구는 맹학교에 재직 중인 시각장애인 경력 특수교사의 견해를 통해 시각장애교육의 현재와 미래에 대해서 다면적 방향을 제시했다는 것에 그 의의가 있다.

The study conducted to understand the current status of education system for the blind and how to develop the educational system for the blind based on the experience and perception of experienced special education teacher with visual impairments who work in the school for the blind. For the study, we implemented the group interview and individual in-depth interview with 11 experienced teachers with visual impairments who work in the school for the blind. After the interview, we transcript the collected contents and analyze the data using a qualitative analysis method. The confirmation of participant and external audit was needed to gain the validity and reliability of study. The results were presented by five main themes and 16 sub-themes. The five main themes are as following: 1) what is career?, 2) inappropriate curriculum, 3) who should have responsibility for a school of the blind, 4) still I am a teacher, and 5) a way forward for the future. We discuss 1) the educational experience of special educational teacher with visual impairments should expand not only inside the school but also beyond the blind school for the application of their experience and 2) the direction of educational system for the blind, which include the curriculum, school system and the job of school. should be reconstructed for the requirement of the blind based on the results. After then the educational performance will be improved. The study suggest the multidisciplinary approach on current stature and future direction of the eduction for the blind based on the opinions of experienced special education teachers with blind.
