Artificial intelligence (AI) is inseparable from the 4th industrial revolution. In his book Homodeus Yuval Harari predicted that AI will replace most of the work of human beings and take away people s jobs. The degree of inequality at that time will be unprecedented in human history. And this situation brings difficulty for human beings to feel sense of accomplishment. What does education need to do to enable mankind to achieve self accomplishment and maintain human s dignity? What is the direction of Chinese education in the era of the 4th industrial revolution? This paper first analyzes how scientific progress has led to changes of the educational thoughts and discusses why AI has achieved rapid development in the recent decade. Second, the paper introduces the current philosophy of foreign language education and the status quo of Chinese education. Finally, we attempted to find out the future direction of Chinese language education regarding to OER, and answer the question regarding what Chinese education can do in order to preserve the human value.
