그림책을 활용한 다문화 교육활동이 유아의 친사회적 행동과 다문화 인식에 미치는 효과

The Effect of Multicultural Education Activities Using Picture Books on Infants Prosocial Behavior and Multicultural Awareness

본 연구는 그림책을 활용한 다문화 교육활동이 친사회적 행동과 다문화 인식에 미치는 효과를 검증하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 연구 대상은 S시 D구에 소재한 어린이집의 46개월∼58개월 유아 26명으로 8주간 주2회 총 16회기에 걸쳐 실험이 이루어졌다. 연구도구는 김영옥의 ‘친사회적 행동평가척도(PBSYC)’와 김판희와 이춘옥의 ‘다문화 인식 검사도구’이다. 수집된 자료는 통계처리를 위해 SPSS 16.0을 활용하여 신뢰도, t 검증, 공분산분석(ANCOVA)을 실시하였고 그 결과, 그림책을 활용한 다문화 교육활동은 유아의 친사회적 행동과 다문화 인식에 유의한 효과가 나타났다(p<.05, p<.001). 이는 그림책을 활용한 다문화 교육활동은 유아기의 친사회성과 다문화 인식 변화에 영향을 주는 효과적인 활동임을 시사한다.

The objective of this study was to examine the effect of multicultural education activities using picture books on infants prosocial behavior and multicultural awareness. The participants were twenty-six 46~58-month-old infants at N and I child-care centers in D-gu, S city. The infants at child-care center were sampled as an experiment group, whereas the infants at I child-care center were sampled as a control group. The experiment was carried out through 16 sessions for 8 weeks (two sessions a week). After the multicultural education activities using picture books, data were collected using ‘the Prosocial Behavior Scale for Young Children’ developed by Kim Yeong-Ok and ‘the Multicultural Awareness Test’ developed by Kim Pan-Hee and Lee Chun-Ok. Collected data were analyzed by t-test and ANCOVA using the SPSS 16.0 program. Major findings are as follows: the multicultural education activities using picture books had significant effects on the infants’ prosocial behavior and multicultural awareness. This finding seems to imply that multicultural education using picture books has significant effects on the positive change of infants’ prosocial behavior and multicultural awareness.
