본 연구는 능동적 양식, 회피/분산적 양식, 지지추구적 양식으로 구성된 정서조절양식 척도의 구인타당도를 검증하기 위해 확인적 요인분석을 이용한 bifactor 모형과 second-order 모형, 그리고 탐색적 요인분석을 이용한 Bifactor 모형(EFA-Bifactor), Bifactor 구조방정식(Bifactor-ESEM)을 이용하였다. 분석결과 EFA-Bifactor모형이 다른 모형들 보다 모형 적합도가 더 높은 것으로 나타났으나 은 통계적으로 유의미고 CFI는 .90보다 작은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 그동안 사용해왔던 정서조절양식 척도의 구인 타당도에 대한 보다 심도 있는 연구의 필요성을 의미한다고 볼 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구의 이러한 결과는 정서조절양식을 능동적, 회피/분산적, 지지추구적 양식을 구분하는데 있어 측정도구의 타당성이 중요하다는 것을 보여준다고 볼 수 있다.
The purpose of the current study was to investigate construct validity using the newly developed bi-factor structural equation modeling(Bifactor-ESEM), bifactor exploratory factor analysis(EFA-bifactor), and confirmatory factor analysis of Bifactor and second-order. The results demonstrated the superiority of a EFA-Bifactor compared to other alternative models but has statistically significant  and lower CFI(less than .90) values. The results could indicate the necessity of developing construct validity of emotional regulation scale further. Importantly, these results demonstrated the importance of valid measurement providing a way to achieve a proper disaggregation of emotional regulation styles relative to specific needs for emotional clarity, avoidance/distinctiveness, and supportiveness.
