교육매체로서의 서사 만화의 분석 - ‘너의 췌장을 먹고 싶어’를 중심으로 -

Analysis of Narrative Comic Book as an Educational Media - Focusing on ‘Let Me Eat Your Pancreas’ -

연구목적: 이 연구는 ‘너의 췌장을 먹고 싶어’라는 서사만화가 교육매체로서의 자격을 갖추고 있는가를 살펴보는데 목적이 있다. 만화의 내용에 교육요소가 포함되어 있는지, 재미와 감동을 주기 위하여 서사전략과 표현방식은 어떠한지를 알아보았다. 연구방법: 연구의 대상이 되는 만화를 충실히 검토하여 교육요소를 찾고 문학작품 분석에서 사용되는 스토리 구성 방법과 만화 구성의 6가지 요소를 중심으로 서사전략과 표현방법을 분석하였다. 연구결과: 이 책에서는 외톨이에 대한 사회적 관심과 이해 그리고 죽음을 행복하게 맞이하기라는 두 개의 교육요소를 찾을 수 있었다. 또한 긴장과 이완, 수수께끼 풀기, 인간적인 따스함 등을 바탕으로 하는 서사전략을 구사하고 있으며, 프레임, 말풍선, 타이포그래피, 캐릭터와 배경 그림, 동작선 등을 적절하게 활용하여 재미와 감동을 주고 있다. 논의 및 결론: 이 연구를 통하여 ‘너의 췌장을 먹고 싶어’라는 만화가 교육매체로서의 자격을 갖추고 있다는 밝혔다. 이와 더불어 이 만화에서 보는 바와 같이 교육요소, 서사전략, 표현방식 등의 조건을 충족한다면 일반 만화도 교육적으로 활용될 수 있다는 시사점을 제공하였다.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine whether a narrative comic, “Let Me Eat Your Pancreas” qualifies as an educational medium. To do so, examining whether the contents of the comic include educational elements, narrative strategies and expressions to express fun and emotion was necessary. Method: The comic “Let Me Eat Your Pancreas” was analyzed thoroughly and found educational elements. Narrative strategy and expression method were analyzed based on six elements of story composition method and comic composition used in analyzing literary works. Results: In this book, two educational elements were found: social attention and understanding of the lonely and happiness of death. It has a narrative strategy based on tension and relaxation, solving mystery, and human warmth. It also provided fun and inspiration by using frames, speech bubbles, typography, characters, background pictures and motion lines appropriately. Conclusion: Through this study, “Let Me Eat Your Pancreas” was qualified as educational medium. In addition, as shown in this comic, if comics of education, narrative strategy, and expression system are satisfied, general comics can be used educationally.
