부부갈등과 만 6세 아동의 문제행동의 관계에서 온정적 양육행동의 매개효과

The Mediating Roles of Warm Parental Behavior between Marital Conflicts and Behavior Problems of 6-year-old Children

본 연구는 부부갈등과 만 6세 아동의 문제행동의 관계에서 온정적 양육행동의 역할을 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 육아정책연구소의 한국아동패널 7차년도(2014) 자료 중 본 연구에서 분석하는 모든 연구 변인에 대해 응답한 1,462가구를 대상으로 선정하였다. 수집된 자료는 Cronbach’s ɑ 계수 산출, 기술통계, 빈도분석, Pearson 적률 상관관계 분석, 위계적 회귀분석을 사용하여 분석하였다. 부모의 연령 및 최종학력, 월 가구 소득, 아동의 성별 변인을 통제한 상태에서 부부갈등과 만 6세 아동의 문제행동의 관계에서 온정적 양육행동의 매개효과를 분석하였다. 연구결과, 남편이 지각한 부부갈등은 아동의 문제행동과 유의한 정적 관련이 있었으며, 남편의 온정적 양육행동은 아동의 문제행동과 유의한 부적 관련이 있었다. 이때, 남편의 온정적 양육행동은 부부갈등과 아동의 문제행동의 관계에서 부분 매개효과를 가졌다. 이러한 양상은 아내가 지각한 부부갈등, 만 6세 아동의 문제행동 및 아내의 온정적 양육행동에서도 동일하게 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과는 부부갈등이 있을지라도 남편 혹은 아내의 온정적 양육행동이 아동의 문제행동을 감소시킬 수 있다는 것을 의미한다. 본 연구의 결과는 부부갈등과 아동의 문제행동의 관계 및 부모 양육행동의 중요성에 대한 후속 연구 및 중재 프로그램의 기초자료로 활용될 수 있다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

This study aimed to examine the mediating roles of warm parental behaviors between marital conflicts and behavior problems of 6-year-old children using the data from Panel Study on Korean Children(2014). The data were analyzed with Cronbach’s coefficient, descriptive statistics, frequency analysis, Pearson’s correlation analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis. The controlled variables were parents’ age, parents’ educational levels, monthly household incomes, and the gender of children. The results indicate that marital conflicts perceived by fathers were positively associated with children’s behavior problems. Fathers’ warm parenting behaviors were negatively associated with children’s behavior problems. The warm parenting behaviors of fathers played mediating roles on the relationships between marital conflicts and behavior problems of children. The same pattern was found in associations between marital conflict perceived by mothers, warm parenting behaviors of mothers and behavior problems of children. These imply that the warm parenting behaviors of fathers or mothers, even if there exist marital conflicts between them, can be a protective factor for children from developing problematic behavioral patterns. This study suggests that parent education programs need to emphasize the value of warm parental behaviors in social·emotional development of young children.
