Development and Application of Visualized Image Materials for Efficient Arithmetic Operation

In the 1st grade mathematics curriculum in Korea, the number and operation area account for 78%. Many 1st graders, however, have difficulties in counting numbers and understanding word problems because they are vulnerable to the number concept. The reason for this is that the word problem is composed of numbers, words and operations. In this paper, the researchers propose a method to develop the visualized image materials for efficiently guiding such students ‘ sense or arithmetic operations.
