지적장애 성인의 텍스트 제시 조건에 따른 읽기 대기시간에 관한 연구

A Study on the Reading latency According to the text presentation conditions by the Intellectual Disability Adults

본 연구에서는 텍스트 제시 조건에 따른 지적장애성인의 읽기 속도, 읽기 대기시간 그리고 읽기 오류를 알아보기 위하여 지적장애성인 집단 15명 그리고 생활연령일치집단 15명을 대상으로 개별적인 읽기 실험을 실시하였다. 대상자들에게 제시된 읽기 텍스트의 종류는 3가지이며 각 글의 종류에 따라서 4가지의 텍스트 조건을 제시하였다. 연구 결과, 지적장애성인 집단과 생활연령일치 집단 간 모든 조건에서 유의한 차이가 나타났으며 지적장애성인 집단 내에서는 언어연령이 증가할수록 읽기 속도, 읽기 대기시간, 읽기 오류가 감소하였다. 또한, 텍스트 제시 조건이 A4 조건일 때 그리고 음절보다 어절로 행이 구분되어 있을 때 읽기 수행이 유의하게 높았다. 글의 종류는 대체적으로 동화, 논설문, 전기문 순으로 높은 읽기 수행을 보였다. 본 연구를 통해 지적장애성인을 대상으로 읽기 지도 시 효과적인 읽기 유창성 향상 방안에 대해 제안하는 바이다.

This study conducted individual reading of 15 adults with intellectual disabilities and 15 life age matching groups to identify literacy rates, read latency, and read errors for adults with intellectual disabilities according to text presentation conditions. There are three types of read text(fairy tales, editorial articles, biographical writing) presented to the participants, with four text conditions(A4 syllabic conditions, A4 word conditions, novel syllabic conditions, novel word conditions) for each type of article. Concludes, Significant differences were seen in all conditions between the intellectually challenged adult group and the life age matching group. In the intellectually challenged adult population, as language age increases, reading time, reading latency, and reading errors also decreased. In addition, the read performance was significantly higher when text in the reading material was presented in large words conditions, and when rows were separated in words rather than syllables. Generally, high reading performance was shown in fairy tales, editorial articles and biographical writing order. This study suggests effective ways to improve reading fluency in reading to adults with intellectual disabilities.
