Satisfaction and Need on Primary Health Care Services among Rural People in Community Health Practitioners Post Area

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to identify the satisfaction and the need on primary health care(PHC) services among rural people in community health practitioner s(CHP) post area. Method: The subjects were 160 people lived at 16 CHP post areas in G city. Study instrument for satisfaction was developed 5-point 16-items and for need 14-items summated scale. Data were collected by interview during July 14th to August 20th, 2003. and analyzed using SPSS 11.0. Result: Service satisfaction on PHC services was 67.2 out of 80-points and was significant higher in 50s and older age groups(F = 5.31, p =. 006); in the group of having acute ailments(t = 2.24, p =. 008) and in those who regarded CHP as their primary health counselor(t = 2.18, p =. 032). The need of PHC services was 52.8 out of 70 point and was also higher in the age of over 65(F = 4.37, p = .014); in the group of having acute ailments(t = 2.59, p = .010). Conclusion: Based on these findings, the authors concluded that rural people counted CHP for primary health counselor, and regarded CHP post as the most accessible and available facility when they had any health problems.
