Purpose: This study was done to identify the effects of nursing interventions on nausea ․ vomiting and anxiety in cancer patients treated by chemotherapy through meta-analysis. Methods: Twenty-one studies were selected from the randomized or nonequivalent control group design theses and papers published in Korean from 1996 to 2006. Results: Nursing interventions on nausea ․ vomiting that showed high effectiveness with the value of effect size more than .8 were aromatherapy(1.11) and foot reflexology(1.15) in 5 days after treatment, and was foot reflexology(1.09) in 10 days after treatment. Nursing interventions on anxiety that showed high effectiveness with the value of effect size more than .8 were hand reflexology(3.86) and acupressure(13.93). Conclusions: The findings provide the objective evidences that aromatherapy and foot reflexology is effective interventions in decreasing nausea ․ vomiting, and hand reflexology and acupressure, in decreasing anxiety for cancer patients with chemotherapy.
