성폭력가해자의 비주얼 저널쓰기 경험에 관한 내러티브탐구

A Narrative Research on Sexual Offenders’ Experiences with Visual Journaling

본 연구는 다양한 경험을 가진 개별인간에 대한 이해를 목적으로 성범죄라는 특정한 경험을 한 성폭력가해자가 살아 낸 삶의 이야기를 탐구하였다. 연구 참여자는 교도소에 수감 중인 재소자 중 연구 참여에 동의한 2명의 성폭력가해자이다. 연구기간은 2016년 08월 23일부터 10월 14일까지이며, 주 1회 총 6회의 비주얼저널쓰기를 활용한 작업을 개별적으로 실시하였다. 본 연구는 내러티브 탐구방법으로 분석하였다. 내러티브 과정에 의해 밝혀진 주제는: 시원은 ‘외롭게 자란아이’, ‘집이 넘 불편해요.’, ‘대장이 된 기분’, 그리고 ‘오히려 다행이다.’였다. 재민은 ‘누군가 보고 있다.’, ‘신하와 왕의 관계’, ‘나쁘지 않은 이 기분’, 그리고 ‘다시 시작하고 싶은 마음’이였다. 그리고 연구 참여자의 비주얼 저널을 통한 미술치료 경험의 의미는 ‘굴러다니는 돌’, ‘서로 다른 시선’, ‘경험한 가짜 전능감’, 그리고 ‘Stand Up 으로 4가지 추출되었다. 비주얼 저널쓰기 경험은 성폭력가해자들이 스스로 인식하지 못했던 자신의 삶의 이야기를 재구성하였고 자신의 문제행동을 통찰할 수 있는 기회가 되었다. 내러티브 탐구를 통한 성폭력가해자의 이해가 개별인간에 대한 이해를 넘어, 재범방지를 위한 성범죄자 치료프로그램이 다양한 방법으로 확대되기를 기대한다.

This study aimed to understand the diversity of individual human beings. By inquiring into participants’ life stories, narrative inquiry methodology was used to understand sexual offenders who agreed to participate in this research among imprisoned ones. The research lasted from August 23, 2016 to October 14, 2016; sessions took place once a week in the consultation room for a total six sessions. This research was analyzed using narrative inquiry methods. In the main themes of this study, Siwon, one of two subjects, finally revealed the following: “he was a lonely child,” “his house is so uncomfortable,” “he had feeling of being a captain,” and “paradoxically, he had a relieved feeling in the prison.” The other subject, Jamin, described that “someone is watching me,” “servant and king relationship,” “feeing not good,” and “a desire to start over.” Then, four types of meaning of experiencing visual journaling in art therapy were identified: “a rolling stone”, “to pay attention to social cues”, “experiencing the exploitation of people,” “stand up again.” Thus, the experience of visual journaling became an opportunity for the sexual offenders to reconstruct the story of their lives and to gain insight into their own problems. I hope that this study can contribute to extending a more comprehensive understanding of sexual offender, and that the sexual offender treatment program for preventing recidivism will be expanded in various ways.
