탈식민지 관점에서 본 동학(東學)의 현대적 의미

The Modern Meaning of Dong-Hak Considering from Decolonial Viewpoint

지구촌의 로컬 현실은 정치경제적·사회문화적으로 각이(各異)하다. 그런데 근대화론자들, 경제성장론자들, 세계화론자들이 주창하는 글로벌 담론 속에는 제3세계권의 각이한 현실이 반영되어 있지 않다. 최근 제3세계권에서 ‘탈서구(de-western)’, ‘탈식민(de-colonial)’를 소리 높여 외치는 것도 이런 이유 때문이다. <서구적인 것 = 보편적인 것>이라는 ‘서구의 야만의 논리’에 대한 대안으로 로컬중심의 ‘신학문운동’이 전개되고 있는 것이다. 이러한 운동이 전 세계적으로 확산된 것은 ‘서구의 관점(view from nowhere)’에서 탈피해 ‘로컬의 관점(view from somewhere)’에서 세계를 새롭게 심찰(深察)하는 것이 필요하다는 로컬 의식의 발로와 괘를 같이 한다. 본고에서 우리는 ‘조선의 주체적 근대’의 길을 연 동학(東學)과 제3세계권의 신학문운동을 비교하면서, 동학이 갖는 현대적 의미를 탈서구-탈식민적 차원에서 조명해보고자 한다.

The local reality of the global village is different in terms of political, economic, social and cultural situation. However, the global discourse advocated by modernists, economic growth theorists and globalizationists does not reflect the reality of the Third World. It is for this reason that the de-western and de-colonial voices of the Third World have recently been shouted out loud. As an alternative to the logic of Western barbarism, the Western = the Universal , there is a new academic movement of thr Third World. The spread of these movements around the world is due to the local consciousness that it is necessary to look at the world from a ‘view from somewhere’, breaking away from ‘view from nowhere’. In this paper, we will try to illuminate the modern meaning of Dong-Hak as a Joseon s autonomous modernity from the viewpoint of de-westen and decolonial by comparing Dong-Hak and a new academic movement of thr Third World.
