청소년 활동가의 교육적 공공성 보완 역할에 관한 사례연구

A Case Study on the Complementary Role for Educational Publicity of Activists for Youth

본 사례연구는 민간분야에서 청소년을 대상으로 다양한 활동을 수행하고 있는 청소년 활동가들의 실천 활동이 어떠한 맥락에서 이루어지고 있으며, 어떠한 형태로 교육적 공공성을 보완하고 있는지를 살피고, 그들이 수행하고 있는 교육적 공공성의 보완 역할이 그들의 실천 활동에 어떤 의미를 가지고 있는지를 밝히고자 하였다. 이를 위해서 시민사회 현장에서 10년 이상 활동하고 있는 청소년 활동가 2명을 연구참여자로 선정하여 질적 사례연구를 실시하였다. 본 사례연구의 결과에 의하면, 청소년 활동가들의 실천 활동은 멘토링, 대안교육, 사회적 가족 등의 형태로 나타나고 있었으며, 이들의 실천 활동은 시민으로서의 사회적 책임과 보편적 가치를 실현하고 교육적 공공성 회복을 지향하기 위해서 자발적으로 참여하는 실천 활동이었다. 따라서 청소년 활동가들의 실천 활동은 공공 영역의 단기적 개입과 재정적 한계의 단점을 보완하면서, 교육적 공공성을 담보하는 의미있는 역할로 평가할 수 있었다.

This case study intends to investigate the context of the activities of activists for youth who are carrying out various activities in the civil society for youth, to examine what types of their activities are complementing and improving the educational publicity, and also to clarify what implication the complementary role for educational publicity they are performing has on their practice activities. For this purpose, this case study selected two activists for youth who have been engaged in civil society for more than 10 years as research participants. This case study found that their practical activities were in the form of mentoring, alternative education, and social family with youth, and were carried out as voluntary participation activities that realized social responsibility and universal value as citizen and aimed to restore educational publicity for youth. These results imply that their practical activities have played roles of complementing the short-term intervention and the weakness of the financial limit of the public domain, and thus can be evaluated as a meaningful role to secure educational publicity.
