매인이름씨 ‘만’의 변천

A transition of Dependent Noun ‘Man’

이 연구는 매인이름씨 ‘만’을 대상으로 형태․통사론적 변천 양상을 파악하고, ‘만’의 변천 과정을 추론해 보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 내용을 요약하면 다음과 같다. 먼저 형태적으로는 큰 변화는 보이지 않는다. 다만 ‘만2’의 경우 현대국어에 오면서 토씨 ‘-은, -도’ 등이 결합하고 있는 예가 보인다. 다음으로 통사론적으로는 선행요소의 통합 제약과 후행 풀이말 제약과 월에서의 기능을 확인하였다. 선행요소의 통합 제약에서는 매김법 제약에서 ‘-(으)ㄹ’만 통합하는 양상을 보였고, 후행 풀이말 제약에서는 주로 ‘하다’와 통합하는 양상이 특징적이었다. 이러한 매김법의 제약과 반복적인 ‘하다’와의 통합은 변화와 직접적인 관련이 있는 것이다. 마지막으로 ‘만2’의 변천과 관련하여 ‘만’의 다양한 쓰임과 형태․통사적 제약을 살펴보았다. ‘만’이 여러 가지 기능을 함으로써 각각의 기능을 모두 충족하기에는 어려움이 있었을 가능성이 있기 때문에 기능을 축소하는 쪽으로 변화를 가져왔을 것이고, 매김법 ‘-(으)ㄹ’과 상위 풀이말 ‘하다’는 문법화의 진전에 많은 영향을 주는 요인임을 확인할 수 있었다.

The purpose of this study is to verify a transition of dependent noun ‘Man’. The result could be summarized as follows. First, there is no significant change in morphology. However, in the case of ‘Man2’, there is an example of combining with postposition in modern Korean. Next, confirmed the integration constraint of the preceding element and the trailing verb constraint. In the integration constraint of the preceding element, an adnominal ending was integrated only with ‘-(으)ㄹ’, and the trailing predicate was mainly integrated with ‘하다’. Thus, an adnominal ending constraint and repetitive integration with ‘do’ are directly related to change. Finally, in order to identify the change factors of ‘Man2’, examined the various uses of ‘Man’, and the morphologic and syntactic constraints. Therefore, we can confirm that an adnominal ending and ‘do’ have a great influence on the progress of grammaticalization.
