A Syudy on the Standardization of Speech Audiometry

The purpose of this study was to review the current status of the standardization for Korean speech audiometry (KSA). Recently the Korean bisyllabic words were developed for measuring speech recognition threshold and are now used to establish the reference sound pressure level (RSPL) for KSA which is defined as the reference speech recognition threshold level (RSRTL) equivalent to 0 dB HL at the audiometer. Data are being obtained from subjects with normal hearing sensitivity between 18 and 25 years old at five universities located at different cities over the country. The process of both domestic and international standardization of KSA will be further discussed.
