The Electric double-Layer capacitor (EDLC) is similar as the 2nd battery for storage energy, the mechanism is physical adsorption and de-sorption in electrolyte. The EDLC are classified small, medium and large by capacitance, coin, flat, radial, snap-in, screw-volt and rectangle shape by packing form or terminal types. Before 2,000 s, the most common applications for small capacitance of EDLC are a semiconductor memory back-up, for electronic equipments, which contain CMOs, ram or microprocessor. They are also used as auxiliary power source for mechanical operations in small appliances like laptop computers, alarms, VCR and telephones. The First International Standard of Electric Double Layer Capacitor(EDLC) is issued in 2004 which was 26 years after commercialized by Panasonic(JP). Currently, The Total standard is 5 documents which is include New Working Item Proposal from Korea on 2014. This is the first working standard item of patent related in IEC TC40. For EDLC industry, New Working group will be need to spread out EDLC standards for new development Industry such as clean vehicles, Energy storage Systems and Printer electronics.
