Compliance is an ideology based in theories about the proper relationship between physicians and their clients. Compliance in health care has been defined as the extent to which a person’s behavior(in terms of taking medication, following diets. or executing lifestyle changes) coincides with medical or health advice . Compliance is successful as a descriptive term in clinical practice precisely because it assumes that physicians legitimately control patient behavior. Nurses need to define compliance which is best fit in the philosophy of the nursing discipline. Concept analysis is the mental work of exammmg parts, phenomenon and the interrelated whole of a thing. The process of concept analysis is illustrated and documented using the analytic approach described by Walker and Avant. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the meaning of the compliance. The goal of this study is to distinguish difference between the everyday language use and the scientific use of the term compliance. The attributes of the concept of compliance can be defined concisely as follows: ability to complete or perform what is due, flexibility, adaptability. malleability, & subordinate behaviors. The antecedents of compliance are directing force & disposition to yield. The empirical referents of compliance are ability to change directions, capability to be altered or controlled, & adjustment to change and following a prescribed reglmen. The foundation of compliance is a trusting relationship with clients based on mutual support and cooperative behavior.
