급변하는 사회와 유아안전교육에 대한 논의 : 교육생태계적 관점을 중심으로

Discussions on a Rapidly Changing Society and Early Childhood Safety Education: Focusing on Educational Ecosystem

연구목적: 본 연구에서는 급변하는 사회현상으로 인해 교육생태계에 일어나는 다양한 변화를 살펴보고 이를 통해 유아안전교육이 나아가야 할 방향성을 모색하고자 하였다. 연구방법: 이를 위해 선행연구를 바탕으로 현시대의 복잡성을 교육생태계적 관점으로 탐구하였다. 연구결과: 첫째, 유아안전교육을 다시 들여다보기 위해서는 안전의 의미를 좁은 틀에 가두지 말고 정치, 사회, 경제 등 거시적으로 살펴보고 이를 닫힌 시스템(closed system)에서 열린 시스템(open system)으로 재개념화해야 한다. 둘째, 유아안전교육의 실행은 안전사고에 대한 대처방법을 지식으로 아는 것(knowing)을 넘어 할 수 있는 것(doing)으로의 수행성을 높여야 한다. 셋째, 유아안전교육은 생명 존재에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 개인을 넘어 공동체의 안전에도 기여할 수 있는 윤리적 가치가 함께 어우러지는 방향으로 나아가야 한다. 결론: 본 연구결과를 바탕으로, 안전을 위해 유아의 생명성을 억누르는 교육 현실을 비판하고, 교육현장에서 안전교육 실행을 고민하는 유아교사, 교사교육자, 연구자 및 행정가에게 새로운 시선을 제공하고자 한다.

Purpose: This study aims at investigating various changes of education ecosystem in the rapidly changing society and exploring new directions for early childhood safety education. Method: To this end, we examined the complexity of the current era from the viewpoint of educational ecosystem through previous studies. Results: First, the meaning of safety in early childhood education should not be confined to a narrow frame. Through exploring the dynamic context of politics, society and economy macroscopically, it should be reconceptualized from a closed system to an open system. Second, safety education for young children must be focused on ‘doing’ instead of ‘knowing’ how to live a safe life. Third, early childhood safety education must be harmonized with ethical values that contribute to the community safety, based on the understanding of the living beings. Conclusion: This study provides significant implications for teachers, teacher educators, researchers, and administrators who must reconcile their teaching practices with the constraints imposed by safety systems in early childhood education.
