Emotional Intelligence and Humanistic Knowledge and Empathic Ability of Nurses

본 연구는 병원 간호사의 감성지능, 인문학적 소양, 공감능력 정도를 조사하고 간호사의 공감능력에 영향을 미치는 요인을 확인하기 위한 서술적 조사연구이다. 자료 수집은 2017년 12월 5일부터 2017년 12월 20일까지 P시에 소재한 일개 종합병원에 재직 중인 간호사 213명을 대상으로 하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS/WIN 18.0프로그램을 이용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과 대상자의 감성지능은 평균 5점 만점에 3.45점, 인문학적 소양은 5점 만점에 평균 2.29점이었으며, 공감능력은 평균 5점 만점에 3.50점이었다. 감성지능은 인문학적 소양 (r=.180, p=.009), 공감능력(r=.601, p<.001)과 유의한 정적 상관관계를 나타내었고, 인문학적 소양은 공감능력(r=.324, p<.001)과 유의한 정적상관 관계를 나타내었다. 간호사의 공감능력에 영향을 미치는 요인으로는 감성지능, 인문학적 소양, 연령으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과를 종합해 볼 때 간호사의 공감능력을 향상시키기 위해서는 연령별 특성에 맞는 자기와 타인을 인식하고 자신의 감성을 활용하기 위한 훈련프로그램이 필요하다.

This study is a descriptive study to investigate the level of emotional intelligence, humanistic knowledge and empathic ability of nurse, as well as to identify the factors influencing the empathic ability. The study was conducted on 213 nurses who are working in a general hospital in P city, between December 5th and 20th 2017. The data was analyzed using SPSS/WIN 18.0. The mean score of the emotional intelligence was 3.45, the humanistic knowledge was 2.29 and the empathic ability was 3.50 out of 5. There was significant positive relationship between emotional intelligence and humanistic knowledge (r=.180, p=.009) and empathic ability (r=.601, p<.001), as well as between humanistic knowledge and empathic ability (r=.324, p<.001). The significant factors influencing the empathic ability were emotional intelligence, humanistic knowledge and age. Based on these findings, development and application of programs that train them to aware themselves and others and to use their emotions by characteristic of age.
