대학 다문화교육 현황과 방향 모색 - 제주대학교 다문화교육 강좌 운영 및 대학생의 다문화 인식과 태도 분석

Current Status and Future Direction of Mulicultural Education’s Lecture at the University: Focused on Jeju National University

이 글에서는 대학다문화교육의 현황을 제주대학교를 중심으로 살펴보고자 하였다. 제주대학교에서 운영 중인 전체 다문화교육 강좌, 즉 일반교양과 교직 강좌를 대상으로 하였다. 특히 일반교양 다문화교육 강좌에 대해서는 수업활동내용 고찰과 함께 수강 학생들에 대한 인식과 태도조사 병행하였다. 연구결과, 일반교양 다문화교육 강좌 수강을 통해 학생들은 다문화에 대한 관심도가 높아졌고, 강좌 수강 후 다문화 관련 활동에 참여하겠다는 의사를 보인 학생들이 많아졌으며, 학생들의 다문화 관련 인식과 태도도 강좌 수강 후 긍정적으로 변화된 것으로 나타났다. 이 결과는 대학에서의 다문화교육 관련 강좌가 확대될 필요가 있음을 시사해준다. 다음으로 제주대학교의 경우 초등예비교사 대상 다문화교육 강좌는 운영 중이나 중등예비교사 대상 다문화교육 강좌는 아직 개설되지 않은 상태로 중등예비교사 대상 다문화교육 강좌의 개설이 필요하다.

The purpose of this article is to explore the current status and direction of multicultural education at the university through a case of Jeju National University. In particular, this study investigates the actual conditions of multicultural education lectures and the attendees’ activities in the course, 2015. This result of this study shows some implication as follows: Firstly, the students were taken by the high interest in multicultural education courses and the students with the idea to participate in various cultural activities after taking the multicultural education were increased. These results can be interpreted as showing that the possibility to participate in cultural activities for students to take greater multicultural education courses. Secondly, Jeju National University has not established multicultural education courses for secondary student teachers college students, so a kind of multiculural education courses are offered. Thus, diverse programs and courses related to multiculture need to be opened inside and outside of university. Furthermore, it is necessary to expand the multicultural programs and activities for university students in conjunction with their local community.
