Successful GTU students: From Thinking Differences to Basics

외국 대학에서 공부를 하는 것은 언어 능력, 학업 일정 관리 등 다양한 준비를 필요로 한다. 언어 능력은 아마도 가장 중요하게 준비를 해야 할 것이지만, 외국어와 더불어 자신의 주제에 대해 아는 것 또한 입학을 한 이후에는 중요하다. 글로벌 교원양성 대학 학생으로 성공하기 위한 기본적인 것은 모든 수업에 열심히 참가하고, 최선을 다하겠다는 의지, 효과적인 학습법 등과 같은 여러 분야의 책임감이 중요하다. 여기에 더해 학업의 성공을 위해 더 근본적으로 중요한 것은 우리가 접하는 학문 내용은 대다수 서양인의 논리에 기초해 구성되어 있기 때문에 동양인과 서양인의 사고 방식의 차이를 아는 것일 수 있다. 따라서 이러한 차이를 알고 익숙해지는 것은 학생들로 하여금 교재 내용을 쉽게 이해하고, 자신의 생각을 구성하고, 특히 영어로 과제물을 작성할 때 보다 분명하게 글쓰기를 하는데 도움을 줄 것이다. 또한 분석적 서구의 사고와 동양의 통합적인 사고 성향을 모두 갖춘 글로벌 교원양성 대학 학생은 문제 해결과 세계를 이해하는 잠재력을 키우게 되며 새로운 도전을 잘 이겨낼 수 있을 것이다.

Studying in foreign country requires various kinds of preparation including language proficiency, academic schedule management and others. Language ability would be the foremost important to be focused, but knowing your major field as much as the foreign language is also important after you get settled. Basic things to be successful GTU students include responsibility such as attending all classes, commitment to working hard, effective study method. In addition, more fundamental thing to be emphasized for academic success is to know the difference in thinking between Asians and Westerners. Since the academic contents we deal with are largely built up and arranged following the logics of the West, being used to the difference would help students to understand textbook materials easily, organize your ideas and write papers clearly in English context particular. GTU students will soon be ready for the new challenge with the analytic Western and holistic Asian potentials to solve problems and understand the world.
