This study intends to analyse items and tests in 2009 school-year s appointment examination for middle school history teacher, and to suggest its improvement methods. To achieve the purpose of this study, we surveyed previous studies and national documents about 2009 school-year s appointment examination for middle school history teacher. And we obtained and analysed items and tests in 2009 school-year s appointment examination for middle school history teacher. Improvement methods for appointment examination for middle school history teacher suggested in this study were as follows. Firstly, the number of items and tests in first examination must be increased to 40~50 and the number of passers in first examination muse be increased to fivefold of the appointment numbers. Secondly, the ratio of the subject-matter pedagogical knowledge and the subject-matter content knowledge must be changed to 3 : 7 in first examination, and 4 : 6 in second examination. Thirdly, the items and tests must be made equally by the examination s fields. Fourthly, the important and general items and tests must be made but unessential and fragmentary those. Fifthly, the nature of second examination must be prescribed more exactly. Sixthly, the official announcement about appointment examination must be given one year or six months before the it s day. Seventhly, the grade of third examination must be applicable to the decision of passers more positively.
