The main purpose of the study is to review and analyze music teacher’s certification examination in Korea . Based on the result of the analysis, suggestions in Korean music teacher’s certification will be followed. Finally, this study will support the development of the music teacher’s certification examination in Korea. For this purpose, music teacher certification systems in Korea was examined. And the comparison and analysis for music teacher’s certification examinations 2002–2013 followed. The criteria of the analysis was the Music Teacher’s Qualification Standard and Evaluation Area and Elements. As a result of this study, 2009-2013 music teacher’s certification examination was more focused and divided equally on the evaluation area. Based on the analysis and the result, three plans were suggested for improving music teacher’s certification examination in Korea. First of all the contents for examination of the aural ability has to be included to the music teacher’s certification examination. Secondly the contents for examination of the performance ability and the criteria for the performance evaluation has to be suggested. Finally, the reinforcement of the qualification of the music teacher is needed in music teacher’s certification system.
