시각적 언어표현을 통한 효과적인 영어학습: 언어학적 자료를 중심으로

Visualized Materials in English Education with a Special Attention to Linguistic Presentation of Internal Structure of Language

널리 알려진 바와 같이 언어자료의 시각적 제시는 언어 구조의 이해에 많은 도움이 되고 있다. 음성-음운적, 통사적, 의미적 이해를 위해 다양한 시각적 자료들이 언어 수업에 활용되어 왔다. 기존 언어학 연구에서는 추상적인 언어 구조 분석과 이해를 위해 분석 언어 자료의 시각적 제시 방법을 활용하여 오고 있다. 이러한 시각화된 언어 자료 분석 방법은 언어 교육에 널리 활용될 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 언어학 연구에서 널리 활용되고 있는 다양한 시각적 자료 분석법의 영어교육에 적용 가능성을 모색해 보고 있다. 특히, 음성-음운, 형태 그리고 통사적 연구에서 사용 되고 있는 시각적 자료 분석 방법을 소개하고 이들이 영어교육에 활용될 수 있는 가능성을 모색하고 있다. 시각적 자료 제시 방법을 활용함으로써 학습자들의 언어 인식에 대한 폭을 넓혀 나가 는데 많은 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

In the linguistic study, various picturesque representations have been used to represent rather abstract structure of language itself. It is well-known that the adaptation of visualized representation is of great help to understand the detailed linguistic structure in general. They cover a wide ranger of areas such as phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax and even discourse. The present study assumes that the visualized representation for internal structure of language structure can be useful in language learning and teaching. For the present study, we look over the phonetically, morphologically and syntactically visualized representation. For the phonetic representation, rhythmic patterns are examined. For the morphological one, the hierarchical combination processes of affixes are visualized. Finally, it is noticed that the internal structures of a sentence can be more systematically recognized through hierarchical visualized representation. In terms of language learning and teaching, it is assumed that it is very efficient and effective to make a proper use of visualized representation used for linguistic analysis. It is because the visualized materials help students widen their perspective into the understanding of the target language structure.
