제주 지역주민의 교육요구 조사연구(Ⅱ) - 제주의 고등학교 교육쟁점과 그 대안 -

A Study of Education Demand Investigation to Jeju Residents(Ⅱ)

이 글은 ‘제주 지역주민의 교육요구 조사연구(Ⅰ): 한국의 교육쟁점과 그 대안’에 이은 두 번째 연구이다. 이 글에서는 ‘제주의 고등학교 교육쟁점과 그 대안’에 관한 지역주민들의 교육요구 조사결과를 분석했다. 논지를 간추리면 다음과 같다. 제주 지역주민들은 외고, 과학고, 영어교육도시 국제학교 등 이른바 고교 다양화 정책에 대해 비교적 낮은 찬성률을 보이고 있다. 특히, 영어교육도시 국제학교에 대해서는 찬반이 대등하다. 제주 지역주민들 중 특히 절대다수의 학부모와 중학생은 자녀가 혹은 자신이 평준화지역 일반계 고로 진학하기를 희망한다. 그래서 제주 지역주민들은 평준화지역 일반계고의 진학경쟁률이 너무 높으며, 이를 낮출 수 있는 대안 마련을 요구하고 있다. 이를 위해 비평준화지역 일반계고와 전문계고의 발전방안 모색이 필요하다. 특히, 평준화지역 일반계고의 확대방안을 강구해야 한다. 이를 위해 도교육청이나 도의회 교육위원회가 교육청과 도의회, 학부모, 학생, 교원단체, 시민사회단체 등이 참가하는 가칭 ‘제주도 고입제도 개선위원회’를 구성 및 운영할 것을 제안한다.

This paper is second study that was connected by “a study of eduction demand investigation to Jeju residents(Ⅰ)”. We present the analysis results regarding of highschool education issues now of Jeju in this paper. The result is as follows. First, Jeju residents take a low approval to policy of making various highschool as Foreign Language Highschool, Science Highschool, International Highschool of English Education City etc. Second, their sons and daughters or middle-school students of a large number have a hope of entrance into a school to standardization highschool. Third, they have a opinion that standardization highschool is highly competitive for entrance into a school, so they demand a means of lowering competitive ratio for entrance into a school. Fourth, they demand developing methods of no-standardization highschool and professional highschool, specially an extension methods of standardization highschool.
