사회복지학 전공 대학생의 다문화 경험, 공감과 비판적 사고성향이 문화적 역량에 미치는 영향: 문화적 민감성의 매개효과 중심으로

The Effects of Multi-cultural Experience, Empathy, and Critical Thinking Disposition on Cultural Competence among University Students Majoring in Social Welfare: Focused on Mediating Effects of Cultural Sensitivity

연구의 목적은 사회복지학을 전공하는 대학생의 문화적 민감성, 다문화 경험, 공감, 비판적 사고성향이 문화적 역량에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고, 그 과정에서 문화적 민감성이 매개변수로 기능하는지를 규명하는데 있다. 본 연구의 대상은 9개 대학에 재학 중인 사회복지학전공의 2, 3, 4학년 학생 374명이다, 통계방법으로는 기술통계, 요인분석, 상관분석, 다중회귀분석과 매개효과 검증방법을 사용하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 사회복지학을 전공하는 학생의 문화적 역량은 평균 3.74이고, 여학생과 3학년의 문화적 역량이 더 높았다. 둘째, 문화적 민감성에는 다문화 경험, 공감, 비판적 사고성향 순으로 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 문화적 역량에 대해, 다문화 경험은 문화적 인식․태도, 문화적 지식․기술, 전체 문화적 역량 모두에 영향을 미치지 않았으며, 공감은 문화적 인식․태도와 전체 문화적 역량에 영향을 미쳤으며, 문화적 민감성과 비판적 사고성향은 하위 문화적 역량 및 전체 문화적 역량 모두에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 문화적 민감성은 비판적 사고성향과 공감이 이 문화적 역량에 영향을 미치는데 있어서 부분적인 매개효과가 있었다. 끝으로 본 연구결과를 토대로 사회복지학 전공 대학생의 문화적 역량 증진에 관한 이론적 및 실천적 논의와 함의를 제시하였다.

The purposes of this study are to investigate the effects of multi-cultural experiences, empathy, and critical thinking disposition on cultural competence, and to examine mediating effect of cultural sensitivity among university students majoring social welfare. The subjects for this study were 374 sophomores, juniors, and seniors in the department of social welfare of 9 universities. For the statistical analysis, descriptive analysis, factor analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis, and method for testing mediation effect were conducted. The results of the study are as follows. First, Mean score of cultural competence was 3.74, and female and junior’s level of cultural competence was higher. Second, multi-cultural experiences, empathy, and critical thinking disposition influenced cultural sensitivity. Third, multi-cultural experiences did not influence cultural awareness & attitude, cultural knowledge & skill, and total cultural competence; Empathy influenced cultural awareness & attitude and total cultural competence; Cultural sensitivity and critical thinking disposition influenced sub cultural competence and total cultural competence. Fourth, cultural sensitivity had partial mediation effect in the relationship among empathy, critical thinking disposition between cultural competence. Finally, The theoretical and practical implications were discussed based on the results of the study.
