대학원 신설학과 교육과정 개발 사례 연구: 교육학과를 중심으로

A Case Study on the Development of Curriculum for New Department of Graduate School: Focusing on the department of Education

본 연구의 목적은 대학원 신설학과 설립 시 발생할 수 있는 교육과정 편성 및 운영 관련 쟁점을 사례를 통해 살펴보고, 예시적 교육과정을 개발하는 것에 있다. 신설학과의 교육과정을 개발하고자 할 때, 학생 수와 개설과목 수가 제한된 여건에서 합리적인 내용 선정 및 조직의 원리에 따른 교육과정 개발이 현실적으로 쉽지 않다. 이 연구는 기존 교육학과 교육과정 편성을 살펴봄으로써 그 특징을 분석하고, 신설학과에 적합한 교육과정 개발의 예시를 제시하였다. 비교적 규모가 큰 대학의 경우 전공별 과목을 3~4개 정도로 개설하는 것에 비해 중규모의 대학의 경우 세부 전공별로 과목을 분류하여 제시하지 않았다. 한편, 개발된 사례의 특징은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학과 내 전공이 두 개 트랙으로 개설될 때, 공통과목을 분류한다. 공통과목은 연구 방법을 포함하여 개설한다. 둘째, 각 전공은 세부 영역을 우선 배정한 후, 세부 영역 간 내용 선정의 빈도를 설정한다. 내용 선정 빈도에 따라 각 영역을 학기별로 2년 단위로 순환하고, 영역 비율은 유지한 채, 과목은 교수자의 학문적 지향성과 학문의 고유 특성에 맞추어 탄력적으로 개설한다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the issues related to the curriculum development for a establishing graduate school, and to develop an exemplary curriculum. When developing a curriculum for a new department, it is not practical to select a reasonable content according to organizational principles in a limited number of students and the number of courses to be opened. This study analyzes the characteristics of existing educational curriculum and suggests the development of curriculum suitable for new curriculum. In the case of relatively large universities, three or four subjects are opened by majors. In contrast, midsize universities do not classify subjects by detailed majors. The characteristics of the developed curriculum case are as follows. First, when a major in a department is opened with two tracks, it classifies common subjects. A common course is opened including research methods. Second, each majors assigns the detail area first, then sets the frequency of contents selection between the detail areas. The curriculum of each subject area is circulated every two years according to the frequency of contents selection, and the subjects are flexibly arranged according to the academic orientation of the instructor and the unique characteristics of the curriculum while maintaining the area ratio.
