한국과 멕시코의 교역 활성화에 관한 연구: 멕시코 산업 및 투자 동향

A Study on the Trade Activation between Korea and Mexico: Mexico Industry and Investment Trends

멕시코는 북아메리카 남쪽에 위치하며 지형학적으로 북미 지역과 남미의 양 지역을 연결하는 교두보 국가로서 1990년대 초 미국과 캐나다와 공동으로 체결하였던 북미자유무역협정(NAFTA)을 바탕으로 수출 공급에 관한 제조업의 핵심 기지이자 주요한 생산 기지로서 다각적인 역할을 수행하고 있다. 특히, 정부 차원에서 개방형의 경제 시스템과 구조를 지향하고 있으며 세계 각국의 다수 국가들과 지역 간 자유무역협정(FTA) 체결하였고, 이를 확대하고 있다. 한편, 멕시코는 주변 국가들과 비교하여 노동 비용 측면에서 상당한 우위를 점하고 있으며 전자를 포함한 석유와 건설업 그리고 자동차 제조를 자국의 중요 산업으로 발전시키고 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 다양한 측면에서 여러 이점을 갖추고 있는 멕시코 경제의 전반적인 현황과 산업 및 투자 동향, 교역 환경과 관련 정책 등을 상세히 고찰하였고, 이에 미치는 다양한 요인들을 살펴보았다. 더불어 멕시코와의 교역을 한층 활성화하고 역내 시장 진출에 용이한 여러 가지 방안들을 제언하였다.

Mexico is located in the south of North America, and is a bridgehead connecting geographically North America and South America. In addition, Mexico is playing a diverse role as a key manufacturing base and major production base for export and supply, based on the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which was concluded jointly with the US and Canada in the early 1990s. In particular, the government is aiming at an open economic structure and has expanded its FTA with other countries around the world. Mexico, on the other hand, is relatively competitive in terms of labor costs compared to neighboring countries and is growing into major industries in the country, including automobiles and construction, including oil and electronics. Therefore, this study examined Mexico s overall economic trends, invest, industrial and trade environment and related policies with various advantages, and examined various factors related to them. In addition, it has expanded the activation of trade with Mexico and sought various ways to facilitate its entry into the domestic market in the future.
