The Relationship between Social Support and Subjective Happiness in Middle School Students Mediating effect of Self-encouragement

본 연구는 중학생의 사회적 지지와 주관적 행복의 관계에서 자기 격려의 매개효과가 있는지를 알아볼 목적으로 수행되었다. 중학생 388명에게 설문 조사를 실시하여 상관분석과 구조방정식 모델을 검증하였다. 결과는 첫째, 사회적 지지, 자기 격려, 주관적 행복 사이에는 정적 상관관계가 발견되었다. 둘째, 사회적 지지가 중학생들의 주관적인 행복에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 사회적 지지의 하위 요인들 사이에서의 친구 지원과 가족 지원은 중요한 영향을 미치지만, 교사 지원은 영향을 미치지 않았다. 셋째, 자기 격려는 사회적 지지와 주관적 행복 사이의 관계에서 부분적인 매개 효과가 있었다. 친구 지원은 인지적 자기 격려, 행동적 자기 격려, 정서적 자기 격려의 경로를 통해 부분적으로 주관적인 행복을 매개한다. 가족 지원은 인지적 자기 격려, 행동적 자기 격려, 정서적 자기 격려의 길을 통해 주관적 행복에 부분적인 매개효과가 있었다. 연구의 함의와 연구의 한계 및 제언점에 대해 논의하였다.

This research aims to examine the relationship between social support and subjective happiness of middle school students, and the mediating effect of self-encouragement. we administrated a questionnaire on 388 middle school students. Correlation analysis and covariance structure equation model analysis were conducted for the data analysis. The results of this study are as follows. First, there is a positive correlation among social support, self-encouragement, and subjective happiness. Second, it was found that social support had a direct effect on the subjective happiness of middle school students. Friend support and family support among the subfactors of social support had a significant effect, but teacher support was not found to be significant. Third, self-encouragement had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between social support and subjective happiness. Friend support partially mediated subjective happiness through the paths of cognitive self-encouragement, behavioral self-encouragement, and emotional self-encouragement; and family support also showed a partial mediation on subjective happiness through the paths of cognitive self-encouragement, behavioral self-encouragement, and emotional self-encouragement. The limitations and suggestions of the future research were discussed in the end.
